Film: Gimme Shelter
Release Date: January 24, 2014
I’m really excited about this coming attraction. The film, Gimme Shelter, stars Vanessa Hudgens is a down on her luck pregnant teen that’s searching for her rich father.
Vanessa Hudgens, of Disney Channel and Spring Breakers fame, is back with a film that may contribute a positive boost to her film career. I’ve been following her career since her days on Disney and even her musical pursuits, but when I saw pictures for this upcoming film I knew this had the potential to be great.
From the above pictures you can see the transformation that Vanessa went through in order to deliver this role. The trailer alone displays the depth and range of Vanessa’s acting that I’ve personally never seen from her before. I’m expecting this film to be critically acclaimed and elevate Vanessa’s career and hopefully she’ll followup with more films like this.
There has been a lot press surrounding the new film, The Dallas Buyers Club, this film festival season and I’m intrigued. The film stars Matthew McConaughey, Jared Leto and Jennifer Garner. I first heard about this movie before filming began because of the extreme amount of weight Matthew lost for the film. Not to mention, the fact that I’m excited to see Jennifer Garner getting back to work.
Here’s a synopsis of the film:
The story of Texas electrician Ron Woodroof and his battle with the medical establishment and pharmaceutical companies after being diagnosed as HIV-positive in 1986, and his search for alternative treatments that helped established a way in which fellow HIV-positive people could join for access to his supplies.
The Dallas Buyers Club will be released in limited theaters beginning on November 1, 2013.
A few months ago I read an article about Fruitvale Station, an upcoming feature film. It tells the true story of Oscar, a 22-year-old Bay Area resident, who crosses paths with friends, enemies, family, and strangers on the last day of 2008.
The film stars; Michael B. Jordan, Octavia Spencer, Melonie Diaz, Ahna O’Reilly-Katie, Chad Michael Murphy and Ryan Coogler.
Fruitvale Station hits theaters on July 12

Last week I came across an article about a new Venus and Serena Documentary that is being released in limited theaters around the country beginning on May 10 and I nearly jumped out of my seat. I’m a huge Venus and Serena Williams fan, I love to play, and watch tennis and everyone knows I love a good Independent Film or Documentary. This is perfect!
The documentary tells of the William sisters journey to tennis fame and what life is like for the two sister now. From the trailer it also gets the sister point of view of their future careers in tennis.
You have to watch the trailer and check this list to see if it will be showing at a theater near you. I Checked and luckily enough it will be!
I’m very excited about this documentary and can’t wait to sit in a theater and fall in love with Venus and Serena all over again.
Will you go and see this documentary?
