Speech of the Week: Jeff Bezos

mf_amazon_fThis weeks speech comes courtesy of Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos at the Princeton University graduation in 2010. I have a long wish list on Amazon and to hear its founder and CEO share encouraging words for life was a treat. As I rewatched this speech I believe that I actually watched it before in a public speaking course.

He talks about gifts and choices we have in life. Here are a couple of highlight from his speech:

“Cleverness is a gift, kindness is a choice. Gifts are easy — they’re given after all. Choices can be hard.”

“When you are 80 years old, and in a quiet moment of reflection narrating for only yourself the most personal version of your life story, the telling that will be most compact and meaningful will be the series of choices you have made. In the end, we are our choices.”

It’s another useful speech to watch and have a notepad on hand to scribble down a couple of notes.

What did you learn from his speech?
