In-N-Out Burger Beef Crisis

I was watching the news and the reporter said, In-N-Out Burger has found itself in the middle of a PR Crisis. I of course was intrigued to pay closer attention.

It was gathered that a beef supplier for the restaurant was caught with undercover footage of having a not so clean farm an unfair treatment of its animals. This slaughterhouse was then linked to the burger chain.

The problem: Being associated with a slaughterhouse that is treating its animals poorly will cause concern for customers who want to enjoy a burger that comes from a safe farm and the activist who are against this will then begin to protest the burger chain. Overall, the reputation and financial success of In-N-Out can be damaged if this is not handled with care.

PR Work: In-N-Out Burger released a statement :

In-N-Out Burger would never condone the inhumane treatment of animals and all of our suppliers must agree to abide by our strict standards for the humane treatment of cattle,” In-N-Out COO Mark Taylor told the AP.

I believe that by releasing the statement and dropping the slaughterhouse as a supplier, In-N-Out has saved face and will live to serve a burger for many more days. Congrats, you passed the PR Crisis test.

How do you think In-N-Out handled the PR Crisis?
